The founder saw an opportunity to repurpose discarded flowers from temples, weddings and other events, which are usually thrown away as waste. She taught women in Bihar the art of making incense sticks from these flowers and to make sticks from dried coconut leaves. Thereby making the product completely out of waste.
Ecospheres purchases these environment friendly incense sticks at fair prices from women and sells them in the market, establishing a sustainable circular economy that provides financial independence to women.

Though places like temples in the vicinity are a regular source of flowers, we keep the underprivileged women informed about special events that take place in the area so they can get access to a larger volume of flowers. one such event is 'Phoolon Wali Holi' which is a religious celebration around the festival of Holi where people play with flowers instead of colors.

In these workshops the process of making incense sticks from flowers in a hygienic way is taught to women. In these workshops the process of making incense sticks from flowers in a hygienic way is taught to women. At the end of each workshop, we leave some flowers behind, to give them an immediate start to their economic independence. We also let them keep the incense sticks that they make during the workshop so they can use it at home and gain support from their family and have excitement with the knowledge that they can actually create it and earn from it!

We teach the best way to extract sticks for the incense sticks from dried branches of coconut trees. They are taught how to make the sticks of a particular size and thickness. This helps in two ways, one is that the product becomes environment friendly by the use of dried waste branches, and second is that some consistency is attained with the look, feel and size of the incense sticks.

Ecospheres buys the incense sticks from women and then sells them in the market. This eases them off the burden of finding a buyer themselves and makes the process of earning simpler for them by getting on the spot payement.
